A criminal court record is the court's case-level file. It begins when a citation, complaint, information, indictment, or other charging document is filed with the court. In Clark County, those files are maintained through the Office of Circuit Court Clerk at the Governor James Clark Judicial Center. Court records may include citations, pleadings, motions, orders, reports, dockets, video recordings, transcripts, financial records, and sentencing documents.
District Court handles misdemeanors, violations, traffic offenses, arraignments, and felony probable-cause hearings. Search Clark County Criminal Records
The online starting point is KYeCourts, which provides Kentucky court applications for criminal and civil cases filed with the court system. CourtNet is the online database for public case information from all 120 counties, but access can require login, account approval, or subscription rules depending on user type.
For payable criminal, traffic, or fine matters, KYeCourts Easy Pay allows search by case, citation, or party. Easy Pay can be useful for fines, fees, and payment-plan information, but it is not a complete criminal case file. Official copies, certified sentencing orders, and older files must be requested through the Circuit Court Clerk.

Clark Criminal Case Stages
Criminal court records should be read as a timeline, not as one static result. An arrest or citation may lead to one set of charges, while the prosecutor may later amend, reduce, dismiss, or present felony charges to a grand jury. A docket can show when the case moved from early court events to plea, trial, disposition, and sentencing.

Clark Charges vs Convictions
Being charged is not the same as being convicted. A Clark County criminal court record may show charges that were later dismissed, amended, reduced, diverted, or resolved by acquittal. The disposition field is critical because it shows what happened to each charge after filing.

Clark County Criminal Roles

Sealed and Expunged Criminal Records
Some criminal court records are not public even when a case once existed. Juvenile records are confidential. Sealed records are hidden from ordinary public view by statute or court order. Expunged records are removed from public access after the legal process is granted. Kentucky Court of Justice explains that a granted felony expungement vacates the judgment, dismisses charges, and expunges records held by agencies or officials, including law enforcement.

Criminal History Reports
AOC FastCheck is separate from a Clark County criminal court record. FastCheck lets registered users order criminal record reports based on court activity. AOC notifies the subject if a third-party report is requested and a record is found. A background-check report does not replace a jail booking record, a law-enforcement arrest report, or the full case file held by the Circuit Court Clerk.
